Dr. Klim’s Corner: We have a plan! A shared vision for the future of LTPS

One of the greatest strengths of Lawrence Township Public Schools is that our vision for the future is not created by one person or one department. It is built together.

Over the past several months, we have embarked on an exciting journey to develop a comprehensive five-year Strategic Plan that will guide the future of our district. This plan represents far more than a document. It is a shared commitment to our students, staff, families, and community, and a roadmap that will help us build upon our successes while preparing every student for the future.

This spring, we partnered with the New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA) to facilitate a three-part strategic planning process. Community meetings held in April, May, and June brought together more than 100 participants, including students, parents, staff, Board of Education members, and community members. Together, they identified our district’s strengths, discussed opportunities for growth, and ultimately developed four overarching goals and the objectives that will guide our work for years to come.

Every conversation mattered. Every perspective was valued. Every voice helped shape the final product.

Following the community planning sessions, our district leadership team participated in an intensive two-day retreat dedicated to transforming those community-developed goals into meaningful action.

Working collaboratively, administrators developed detailed action plans for each objective, identifying the strategies, timelines, responsible teams, resources, and measures of success that will turn our vision into reality.

The result is a strategic plan centered around four key priorities:

  • Health & Wellness, Safety & Security
  • Future-Ready Academics
  • Community Engagement & Involvement
  • School Culture & Climate

Together, these focus areas reflect what our community told us matters most—creating safe and supportive learning environments, providing rigorous and engaging educational opportunities, strengthening partnerships with families and the community, and fostering a culture where every student and staff member feels a true sense of belonging.

I am incredibly grateful to everyone who dedicated their time, ideas, and passion throughout this process. It is inspiring to see a community come together with such a shared commitment to the success of our students.

Whether you attended one meeting or all three, your input helped shape the direction of Lawrence Township Public Schools.

In the coming weeks, we look forward to sharing the completed Five-Year Strategic Plan with our community. Alongside the plan, we will launch a public dashboard on our district website that will allow everyone to follow our progress, celebrate milestones, and remain engaged as we work toward achieving our goals.

Transparency and accountability are essential to this process, and we are excited to provide our community with a way to see our progress every step of the way.

This strategic plan belongs to all of us. It reflects who we are today and who we aspire to become tomorrow. Together, we have created a roadmap for the future, and together, we will continue moving Lawrence Township Public Schools forward.

Thank you for your partnership, your trust, and your unwavering support of our schools.

Dr. Robyn Klim is the Superintendent of the Lawrence Township Public Schools.
